The love of Corrie and her family for Christ and the Jewish people sent them on a journey to hell on earth. Hiding Jews from the Nazis led Corrie to prison and then to Ravensbrook concentration camp. Of her entire family, Corrie alone survived the holocaust. From the end of World War II to her death in the early 1980's Corrie served as a shining reminder of God's love and forgiveness. She and her husband Jim went to Ecuador as missionaries, first to the Quichua Indians and then to a savage tribe called the Aucas. Tragically, Jim and four other men were speared to death by the very people they had come to help. Elisabeth and her little daughter Valerie lived with the Aucas for fourteen months after Jim's death. Almost the entire tribe has come to Christ as a result of Elisabeth's witness.
