• sunny day is embarking on a fall tour.  the dates can be found in the tour section.  nick macri (who played bass on the summer tour) will be still be handling the bass duties and according to dan, nick's band  euphone will be opening for some of the dates on this tour.

• there were rumors about sdre opening for radiohead and/or the dave matthews band, but apparently nothing happened with either of these prospects.

• sunny day's received a lot of media attention for the rising tide...here's a few online articles i've been pointed to...

• if it's still out, pick up the october issue of guitar player magazine for a small article on sdre..."there is a small section on sdre with a picture.  Its mainly different quotes from dan about the guitar sound on the albumb.  The article then talks about some of the different vintage amps they used and that he recorded with his 335."...thanks to Mike Savage <mthomasmusic@altavista.com> for the info.

 
• many of you may remember dan's book that he has been working on for a long while...well,  In The Blue has an update on the progress...Dan Hoener is working on a illustrated book that Chris Thompson (album art for Diary & How It Feels to Be Something On) is doing the illustrations for. It is going to be sold on the web only. Also, Chris just got contracted by Burton Snowboards to do graphics for a new line of snowboards.

PILLOWCASES!!!!! i couldn't believe this... and unfortunately i didn't have enough money to pick a set up... they were plain white but had "morning comes in the dream before we rise" (a line from "the rising tide" -- if you folks haven't memorized the lyrics yet) stitched into them... very very cool!!

• time bomb has put up some awesome exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from the recording of the rising tide at  www.timebombrecordings.com .  new footage is added every monday.  i personally think time bomb is doing an excellent job promoting the new album.  their sunny day website is GREAT.  everyone should check it out.
• a lot of people (excluding me) have heard the promo for the rising tide and the majority agree that it has a very "big" sound...i.e. smashing pumpkins.  it is also getting a lot of comparisons to the diary sound. where people are disagreeing is to whether or not this is a good thing.  i guess everyone will have to decide for themselves!

• time bomb recordings is redoing the official website and it will now be run by the  artist direct network .
• i can now make sound clips again, so start voting for the song of the week and i'll post a new live version of a sdre song every week.

• time for some quick updates...
• sunny day has signed with  time bomb recordings and a new album is rumored to be out sometime next year.  anisgod from  www.sunnydayrealestate.com says that they've signed a *two* record contract on Time Bomb.
• the movie, "for the cash", that features jeremy and will is available exclusively through sub-pop and can be purchased  here at sub-pop .  if you happen to place one of the first 100 orders you get a limited edition chromium cover!
• back in november, sunny day was featured in the november issue of the "stop breathing" mag which is available @ Tower Records, it's a well written article with great pics and SDRE on the cover.  try to find one if you can and grab an extra for myself if you don't mind...thanks to don't be fooled by my sweet demeanor, baby... <dviussmile@excite.com> for the info.
• there is a full page picture of sunny day real estate with a small article  about the next album in the new alternative press magazine with no doubt on the cover...thanks to Dallas Jones <judgejones@hotmail.com> for letting us know.
• for all those not fortunate enough to have acquired the new Live video, you can check out the video for "guitar and video games" in realplayer G2 format at  insound.com .
• jeremy supposedly posted a review of Live on  www.amazon.com but it has since been determined to be fake...but, i still find it pretty amusing, so here it is...Our album isn't what we intended for it to sound like Sub Pop screwed us big time. We weren't involved in the project of the "live" cd at all. In fact we didn't even approve the idea but they had us by contract. We have signed to Time Bomb records recently, and are quite happy with our current position. Again, sorry about the "new" cd. My voice is embarrasing during the first few songs. We appologize, and will make it up to you with our new record "The Shape of Sound", expected to be released by next March. Thanks and love - Jeremy Enigk
• ansigod from  www.sunnydayrealestate.com gives futher insight to the fake post and some more news...Jeremy wasbaffled; "Of course it's bogus!"  SDRE is going into the studio in Dec. if they can find a favorable producer and the record may be out in June.  The name will NOT be "The shape of sound" as claimed on that amazon.com site.

• time for a long overdue news update
• as all of you probably know, sunny day are negotiating with a number of unknown major labels.  i have heard a lot of names but i don't really want to bother starting rumors until they actually sign with one.
• as first reported at  http://www.sunnydayrealestate.com , jeremy and will are going to appear in the upcoming action-comedy, For the Cash.  you can read more about it at http://www.cdnow.com/cgi-bin/mserver/redirect/leaf=allstararticle/fid=16646
• yep, the rumors are true...on october 19, a  live album and video simply titled, Live, are going to be released by sub-pop.  mtv news reports: Audio for the "Live" album was recorded on May 26 of this year at a special show at the University of Oregon in Eugene and features material culled from all three of the band's critically acclaimed albums, including "In Circles" "J'Nuh," "Pillars," and "Every Shining Time You Arrive."  Live footage of Sunny Day Real Estate  (whose lineup currently features  vocalist-guitarist Jeremy Enigk, guitarist Dan Hoerner, drummer William Goldsmith, and bassist Joe Skyward) was filmed  during an "intimate" homecoming gig at the Break Room in Seattle on May 30. Shot and edited by Duncan Sharp, the "Live" video documents nine songs from that evening's performance. The video will also include a pair of clips prepared for Sunny Day's 1994 debut, "Diary," including "Seven" and "In Circles."  the setlist is: pillars, guitar and video games, the blankets were the stairs, 100 million, song about an angel, the prophet, rodeo jones, in circles, and j'nuh.
• for everyone eager for jeremy's next solo record...ansigod from  http://www.sunnydayrealestate.com reports: Well, Sub Pop didn't want to let go of SDRE (who could blame them) so when SDRE left they (SDRE) liquidated the Enigk contract with an agreement to let this Live stuff occur.  If/when the next Enigk album comes out it won't be out on Sub Pop.  Oh, and last I heard all of the boys were just happy writing music for SDRE.  I think even some of Jeremy's material for his solo work has been rearranged for the new SDRE material which should be out next April or June.
• one last tidbit, and perhaps the most shocking of all...williamson management has confirmed that sunny day has dropped them in search of bigger management.

• for anyone whos interested...i heard, and i think that its a definate thing, that sunny day is also playing july 6th at some hole in the wall club called the yukatan, on state st. in santa barbara....its all ages and pretty cheap, but most of all, its a way small club....thanks to Mikie Lewinski <xvgunx@hotmail.com> for the info...please note, i am not confirming this show, i'm just passing along the info.

 
• i have an interview with joe and an article on the band that i'll post in the next few days.  i got both from the sdre-l, so if you're on the list, it's nothing new for you.

• anthony schmidt <anthony@foxinternet.net> from the sdre-l posted the following cool info. the other day!...seattle-area bi-weekly music newspaper The Rocket just published a list of the 300 northwest albums of all time, as picked by their reviewers.  "Diary" -- #36, "LP2" -- #108, "How It Feels To Be Something On" -- #147,and Jeremy's "Return Of The Frog Queen" -- #204...also sdre related: Foo Fighters -- #58, Foo Fighters' "Colour and the Shape" -- #102, and Christ On A Crutch's "Crime Pays When Pigs Die" -- #218.  the posies were in their a few times, but not for any records that joe played on.  death cab for cutie, 764-hero, and thirty-ought-six were also on the list (sdre has played shows with them before).  the covers of HIFTBSO and ROTFQ are featured prominently on the cover of the new rocket, too

EUGENE:
well, i got info from a friend today about the SDRE show in Eugene, OR, on
the 26th of May. they are playing at the UofO in the EMU ballroom, which
from what i can tell is basically the same type of deal as the HUB ballroom
where they played on the 26th of April. tickets will be 18 bucks to the
general public. they are not yet on sale, and my friend forgot to ask when
they will be, but she said she'd call em back and let me know. the number
again for the EMU ticket office is (541) 346-4363.

PORTLAND:
i know this has been talked about many times on here, but i figured since i
was doing this, i might as well include it. the show is on May 27th at The
Crystal Ballroom. tickets are $15.45 (including service charge), and can be

there is a section on that page that allows you to purchase tickets online.
go there and find the sunny day show, and get your tix there.

VANCOUVER:
all i know about this one is that it's at the place mentioned on the
website, and it's on the 29th. the number to call for TicketMaster in
Vancouver is (604) 280-4444. the place is a bar type place, but keep in mind
(as i forgot until i thought about it) that since it's in canada, this means
19 and up instead of 21 and up. not sure if anyone on the list is planning
to head up there besides me, but just thought i'd let ya all know....i also found out that you can purchase these tickets at  http://www.ticketmaster.ca .  tickets are $14.50 + service charges in canadian dollars.

SEATTLE:
actually, i know zero about this except for the fact that it's at the
Breakroom, which is 21+, on the 30th. if anyone knows the number for the
Breakroom or where to get tickets (or even where the place IS), might wanna
post that info to the list, or if not, at least hook ME up with it. =)

• i just moved so i haven't updated in a while, but today i got caught up on all of the new tour dates and compiled all of the reviews of the u of w show.
• i said look in the news for details on the oak canyon ranch show...but...i lost the e-mail with all of the info. so i'm going to try to go from memory, and if anyone can give me the rest of the info. it'll be greatly appreciated.  this show is going to have three stages and of the many bands confirmed, the only ones i remember are at-the-drive-in, sonic youth, and of course, sdre!
• some lucky fans got to hear a bit of soundched at the u of w show and what did they here? none other than a new song!  the song wasn't actually played during the show though.  according to the band, no new songs will be played live until they start working on their new album.

• the japanese tour dates have been posted for awhile now, but there is also another show coming up in seattle.  they're playing on 4/26 in the hub ballroom at the university of washington.  here's the low down on tickets from williamson management...$10.00 general admission, $8.00 for students- There is a limit of 2 tix (at this price) per UW student ID.  One can purchase tickets at either the HUB ticket office on campus OR at Cellophane Square at 4538 University Way. • there is also RUMORS that sunny day playing some dates in california with none other than sonic youth!!!  At the Fearless Records (at-the-drive-in's label) website there is a date for July 4th at Irving Canyon with Sonic Youth, Sunny Day Real Estate and At-the-drive-in so it looks like this date might be confirmed--thanks to ryan <Mebigwig@aol.com> for the info on the july 4th show.

• first off...will has a severe case of bronchitis and at the lawrence show the band asked people not to smoke because if they did, sunny day probably wouldn't be able to play.  everyone there was really cool and i thank you all for that...so...if at the last few shows they ask for no smoking, please help out and listen to them.  it'd be a real bummer to go to the show and have sunny day not play.
• to settle all of the future plan rumors as of right now, here is their tentative schedules.  they plan to tour japan for a week in april, come back and write new material over the summer, tour europe in august, and then return home to start recording the new album.
• althought the paperwork still may not be completed (i'm not for sure), the band is in the process of getting off of sub-pop.  they are currently talking to a few different labels scoping out their options.
• last, but not least...sub-pop plans on milking a few more bucks out of sunny day by releasing diary and hiftbso as a double lp.  they will be packaged together and i'm currently not sure what the cover will look like...thanks to ansigod for the news...
